Safety note
Bone and feather meal smell interesting to dogs. Store the bag closed and off the floor, water the product in after spreading, and keep pets off the bed until the surface is dry. Wear gloves and avoid breathing the dust when you spread it; wash your hands before eating.

About this fertilizer
Meadowfold is the blend we reach for when a bed needs feeding rather than rescuing. Feather meal carries the nitrogen slowly, steamed bone meal supplies phosphorus that stays put in the root zone, and Atlantic kelp meal rounds it out with potassium and the trace elements that tired ground tends to run short of.
Because everything in the bag is a whole milled input rather than a salt, it has to be broken down by soil life before the plant can use it. That is the point. You get a steady feed over about three months, no scorch if you are slightly heavy handed, and ground that holds together better each season you use it.

How to apply it
Application instructions
Follow these in order. The rates below are the ones we test to, and going over them will not make anything grow faster.
Work it in before planting
Spread 3 lb per 100 square feet across cleared ground and rake it into the top 3 inches of soil. Water thoroughly so the meal makes contact with damp earth, then leave it a week before sowing or transplanting.
Side-dress growing plants
Scatter a small handful, roughly 2 tablespoons, in a ring 3 inches out from the stem of each established plant. Scratch it into the surface with a hand fork, keeping it off leaves and stems, and water it in.
Repeat through the season
Feed again every 10 to 12 weeks while plants are actively growing. Stop feeding roughly six weeks before your first expected frost so soft new growth is not caught out.
